A coworker of mine claims that at one time there was a town
(settlement) call Pleasure located on the shoreline of Whitefish Bay
not many miles from Paradise. I have never heard of Pleasure and none
of the maps I've looked at show a location for it. Was there really a
settlement called Pleasure? I've visited the Paradise area many times
and have snowmobiled there quite a few times. He says that he wants to
buy a 1 acre lot there which costs $500, personally I think he is
just making up a interesting story.
Thanks in advance,
Ron

Ron,

I don't recall such a place, nor have I ever heard it mentioned before. I
will check some old county maps I have, plus a contact in an archive of old
maps. There were a lot of short-lived logging camps and fishing settlements
that have been lost from memory, but I'll see what I can find. Interesting.

I would think a certain someone from Paradise should be able to ***track***
that one pretty quickly. Anyway, ain't it about time for one of them
"updates", doncha think. ;-)

Will get back to you.

Regards,

an Old Yooper

Thanks for the prompt reply, I wanted an accurate answer and that's
why I pinged you. My coworker tells a lot of interesting stories about
his travels around the U.S. , this one really caught my attention.
He claims the lot is on a high bluff and he can see the Whitefish
Point Lighthouse light at night from the lot. Have you read any of
Joseph Heywood's Wood Cop Mysteries? His fiction reminds me of the
"certain someone from Paradise". If the legend in his own might would
write a fiction novel instead of something supposedly non-fiction he
would probably be very successful and not have to resort spamming
newsgroups or have his girlfriend gave his books glowing reviews. A
number of years ago I heard Joe Heywood speak at a Trout Unlimited
Dinner and decided to read one of his books. After reading the
Berkut, I read the Wood Cop Mysteries. I really enjoyed the Berkut,
the Wood Cop Mysteries are so-so.
