I'm looking to buy a pair of boots and am considering Asolo. Does anyone
have any experience with this manufacturer? Any recommendations? Thanks
in advance.
Larry
I bought a pair of Asolo Globaline and the soles literally fell off them, and all the rubber over the toes and on sides of soles is cracking apart. Completely unusable.

And from this we learn that it takes 17 years 7 months and 24 days for
someone to respond via Google Groups to a web posting?

A considered respones is almost always a good thing. Think of how hard
it would be to conduct a flame war if everyone waited ten or more years
to respond.

I tried a couple pairs of Asolo hiking boots (from Sierra Trading Post)
a couple years back, thought they were well made and would have been
comfy if they were wider. Their wide was not wide enough for me. I sent
those back, did keep the Alico boots- real leather made in Italy, wide
is wide enough and the last seems to match my foot.

My Meridians did the same, but Asolo boots fit my feet better than most.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy Asolo boots again, although I won't get any
with such a huge rubber rand all the way around, unless I'm looking for
winter boots.

In fact, I just this week purchased another pair of Asolo boots to replace the very abused-looking ones that I've worn for the past 5 years. I've had, and written about, Merrell, Vasque, Rocky, LaSportiva, Raichle, and most other makes in the past 30 years, and it is my considered opinion that you won't be disappointed with the comfort or quality of an Asolo. Hikers etc. should be aware that different manufacturers use different lasts on their product. Since different people have different foot shapes, that means that the brand one person finds wonderful may be rotten on a different foot. You need a quality brand but beyond that, try boots on, walk around the store, if possible walk up and down a slope (REI and maybe others provide such test slopes). Make sure they feel good on your feet.

I know you have a lot of critics on Usenet, Len, but I'm not one of
them. I'm just curious as to why you're responding to an
eighteen-year-old post.
